Fishing and Boating

All Hydro Tasmania lakes are stocked with trout and current licences are essential.
Full details are available in a brochure called "Fishing Code for Anglers" which is published by the Inland Fisheries Commission.
The brochure is free and can be obtained from, licence selling agents, and the Inland Fisheries Commission.
There are boat ramps on all lakes and these are shown on the map above.

Lake Barrington State Recreation Centre

Water skiing on Lake Barrington
Site of the 1990 World Rowing Championships. Facilities include barbeques, shelters and large grassed areas. Camping is not permitted in the State Recreation Area.

The Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation manages an Outdoor Pursuit Centre at Lake Barrington. Courses are provided in activities such as canoeing, bushwalking, climbing and caving.

Camping

A number of camping areas are available and these are marked on the map. In the Lake Barrington area, camp sites are available at Kentish Park at the northern end of the lake.
